Make provider choice explicit
List the configured model provider, the owner of its credentials and the spending controls. Changing the client does not itself change the provider’s data policy. If using a local model, inspect external tools and plugins as separate network boundaries.
Evaluate local-model suitability
Use a representative change and measure whether the chosen model produces an acceptable diff on your hardware. Documented local-runtime support is not proof of sufficient model capability or a fully offline workflow in every configuration.

Preserve repository instructions and rotate provider credentials where appropriate. Check each configured provider and tool independently when changing clients.
Local software, a configurable model provider and a self-hosted product are different capabilities. Unknown fields must be resolved for your own requirements.
